Caroline Lee ’18 has launched a new writing platform called the Ram-Page, which features different topics about human rights. This online magazine hopes to spread awareness about current issues relating to human rights and social issues outside of Hill.
“I want to create something more accessible to students, and provide more opportunities for those who are interested in human rights and are confident in showing their work to the community,” Lee said, “We accept writings from anyone, even from non-experienced writers, as long as [the writings] are on topic.”
Mark Pearson ’87, instructor of English and Humanities, is sponsoring the online magazine as the director of The Writing Center.
“One of the things I want to do is encourage student projects at Hill,” Pearson said. “I think we have a good group of students who are interested in writing, and they have written strong essays, fiction, and poetry that we submitted to the Scholastic Writing Award.”
Through the Ram-Page, Pearson and Lee hope students will find articles that are interesting enough to change their perspectives on certain topics of human rights. The Ram-Page has been receiving submissions regarding gender equality for its February edition.
Though the topics go beyond what happens on campus, they will be suitable for the community. This is a free platform that allows students to express their experiences and opinions on certain topics, and hopefully it will further transform Hill’s writing program into a diverse and dynamic one.
