The Holidays are a time to spend with loved ones, where nothing else matters but the memories being made and the sense of community shared by all. Here are a few hobbies and activities that can enhance your holiday experience.
As the weather turns colder, the only things that envelop the true holiday spirit are activities out in the snow or next to a warm fire. You can choose to go ice skating in the middle of Philadelphia, one of the many Weekend Activity options. Alternatively, you can choose to stay on campus and sled down one of the numerous “hills,” a thrilling way to get in the spirit.
If you enjoy the warmth more, try baking some gingerbread cookies or masking cookie houses in decorations. While those are in the oven, put on some classic holiday movies, like Elf or The Grinch.
If staying home is not enjoyable during the holidays, try traveling to places that truly embrace the holiday spirit. As many know, New York City is a wonderful place to spend the holidays. The Rockefeller Christmas Tree is displayed in the city, with many decorations adorning each street. The Rockettes also perform their holiday spectacular during this time, a show that cannot be missed.
Park City, Utah is another place known for its lavish holiday decorations, many feet of snow and great skiing areas. If a more active holiday vacation is a greater appeal, then riding the slopes in Deer Valley or Park City Mountain is the place to be.
As the holidays draw near, it is time to cherish moments with our loved ones and an excellent way to do that is by embracing family traditions. As the holidays approach, start to decorate the house together. Set up a tree with lights and ornaments, line the railings with garland, and hang a wreath on the front door. Another activity is taking a family photo, although it may be hated by most teens. Lastly, drive around together and look at the various lights that brighten the town.
The many activities that are done together are what give the holiday its spirit and bring the community together.
