Going to college is something that is usually reserved for those who have gone through all four years of high school and completed their General Educational Development (GED), but fourth former Sherdian Ameo ’22, is an exception to that majority. This next academic year, Ameo will be attending Bard College at Simon’s Rock with a focus on studying English and History. Simon’s Rock is specifically for students who have the capability to start college after tenth or eleventh grade. Ameo decided to attend to be able to focus on her education at a new level.
“I have had an amazing time at Hill these past two years but I just want to be very serious about focusing on education on my terms,” Ameo said.
This has not been a recent decision; Ameo has been thinking about attending college early since the seventh grade. When she first started looking at alternative high school options, she considered either going to a public high school and graduating early or attending a private school like Hill and then transferring to an early college program after two years. This winter, Ameo decided that it was the right time for her to process her application to Simon’s Rock.
“I love Hill and everyone there and I am going to miss everyone so much, but I can’t wait to come back and see what you all do,” Ameo said.
