This fall Jenn Weissbach will take over The Hill School’s field hockey program as the new head coach.
Weissbach came to Hill in 2014 as a science instructor after playing division 1 field hockey for Dartmouth College.
She has been assistant coach for the varsity field hockey team for the past three seasons and the head coach for the girls’ varsity basketball team for the past two seasons.
“She wants [her players] to not only get better but be a part of something greater than just themselves,” Amanda Dougherty, assistant field hockey coach said.
Weissbach does not believe her promotion as head coach will be the most difficult transition this year. Weissbach believes the loss of the class of 2016 along with the introduction of new players will prove to be challenge, but she has no doubt the team will push through it.
“We will grind every day to build a culture that is founded on hard work, passion, and care for one another,” said Weissbach.
Weissbach said the varsity field hockey team hopes to defend their MAPL championship while working hard and having some fun in the process.
When asked about her long-term goals as head coach, Weissbach said a few MAPL and State championships would be great, but her main goal is to make an impact on the girls of the Hill Field Hockey Family.
“I want to build a culture where girls learn how to work hard for their teammates and want to become better people off the field,” Weissbach said.
I hope each girl will leave the program a better person than when they first entered it.
