“ I am very optimistic for the season, trying to disregard any negativity. If I train like we aren’t having a season then I won’t get better, if I train like there will be competition this fall, then I will grow as a player. If the season does get canceled I believe we will just be practicing, maybe having a season in the spring. Or maybe scrimmaging other nearby schools. “Just stay positive” is the mindset for us all. We all really want to play. Our season was packed with highly ranked teams and that would be a shame to not be able to showcase our new team.”

There is a lot of uncertainty about the upcoming season which means we have to embrace the unknown. We have to be able to control what we can control and forget about everything else. The team has had calls throughout the summer allowing us to check in with each other and give a little life update. Players have been either swimming on their own or practicing with the club team with the necessary social distancing precautions in place.
My core expectations do not change from any previous season to this upcoming season. I am still going to compete whether that be against myself and the rest other guys on the team or possibly have competition against other teams. I am still going to make myself and the rest of the players around me better. With all of that being said, I am still going to hold myself and the team to the highest standard possible in all walks of Hill life including the dorms, dining hall, classrooms, and the pool.

Our season is already a lot different than years past. Before, big races such as the Paul Short invitational at Lehigh, the Manhattan invitational, and our PAISSA meet are all cancelled because it would be impossible to accommodate the amount of people these meets see every year. As of now, most our meets are dual meets with most of them being at the Brookside golf course.
If our season is cancelled, the plan is to still have practice every day and train as if we did have a season.

“Golfers are playing golf. Some recreationally, but many are participating in tournaments and club championships. Golf is a sport where you can safely social distance while playing. We intend to play any scheduled matches, and at the very least, go to Brookside Country Club nearly every day to practice and play. Our understanding is that even if the matches are cancelled, we can still go to Brookside and/or use our short game area located on campus. There is plenty of competition just among the team members. They all want to improve and become the School Champion in the annual competition to determine the best golfer in the school each May.”

“Football has spring football throughout a good portion of the country and spring ball does include many games, we will operate as if this is spring football. We will continue to work on developing our team’s culture and leadership skills in the classroom and we will focus on skill development and application of the skills on the field. We will follow the proper protocols, and if allowed, we will play quite a bit of 7 on 7 so the players can learn the schemes and scrimmage a few times so the players on the team can compete with one another. There are a number of seniors who plan to play in college, so this will be an important time for their development as athletes and the returning players will be able to gain valuable experience.”
