Cassie Wyckoff is The Hill School’s new head girls’ water polo coach and assistant athletic director.
Wyckoff grew up playing water polo with the Stanford Water Polo Club in Palo Alto, California.
At the beginning of her professional water polo career, Wyckoff was a Division I goalie at Indiana University from 2009 to 2012, finishing as the all-time saves leader after breaking the school record with 1,108 saves.
Wyckoff then competed on the United States women’s national team in 2011 for Head Coach Adam Krikorian. In June 2015 Wyckoff became an assistant coach at Stanford University before becoming the head coach at Washington and Jefferson University for two years.
Thomas Johnson, former head girls’ water polo coach, said Hill wanted to bring in a coach that is passionate about water polo and has a high level of expertise to work with the “high end” players. Johnson also looked for a coach that would build the girls’ water polo program through club teams and camps.
“Coach Wyckoff fit all of those things, and The Hill is really fortunate to have her on board,” Johnson said. “She’s going to do a great job with the program and in the Athletic Department as Assistant Athletic Director.”
Paige Curcio ’18, varsity girls’ water polo captain, says she is excited for Wyckoff to be the water polo team’s new coach.
Curcio thinks Wyckoff will bring another level of “fresh” intensity and new ideas to the team.
“I’m looking forward to building a relationship with her because she always genuinely wants to know the little details of our everyday lives,” Curcio said. “I can’t wait to see the impact she has on HGWP this season and many more seasons to come even after I am gone.”
