Neumann University was undoubtedly the place to be this weekend. The gym bounced with energy as the Hill Blues took on the two-timing defending state champions the Westtown School on Friday night and later the No.3 Haverford School on Saturday Night.

“A lot of people counted us out,” Nick Alikakos ‘18 said regarding the game against the powerhouse Westtown school, that hosts an abundance of division 1 commits. However, the boys team exhibited a lot of mental toughness and proved they wanted a chance at the finals more. The tension in the room never settled as the score was tied 45-45 with 2 minutes left. Until, senior guard Daquan Morris ’18 forced a steal and scored on the fast break layup to seal the lead. Senior captains Chase Audige ’18 and Daquan Morris ’18 led respectively with 15 points and 12 points. While Caleb Dorsey ’20 and Seth Maxwell’18 followed with 8 points.

“We played a heck of a game (Friday) but we knew it wasn’t over and that we’d have to come right back and beat a really good team,” said head coach Mr. Canosa.

The boys traveled back to Aston, PA for an exhilarating matchup against inter-AC champions the Haverford School. The beginning of the game proved to be a struggle as the score stayed routinely close. However, with a packed student section and clear incentive to win the boys battled through the opposing team. The team put up 17 points in the third quarter to Haverford’s 3, which included some noteworthy dunks from Audige. Alikakos ’18 led with 20 points while Audige ’18 and Dorsey ’20 followed with 15 and 11.

The boys are excited to represent the school and demonstrated a great season.
