Chloe Han ’22 is known for her fantastic artwork, whether this be designing custom-made shoes or creating artwork about social issues going on in the world today. Senior Master of the Arts Ellen Nelson said, “Her craftsmanship is meticulous and detail-oriented. She consistently and diligently practices her craft which is the only way to get better at something. After each critique, I can see in her subsequent work how she has integrated my suggestions and guidance.”

Han started drawing from a very young age, but, since she has come to Hill, she has found a passion in art. At the school Han attended before her enrollment at Hill, art classes were not available. In her freshman year here at Hill, she started in Studio Art.

“After she submitted early work in Studio Art 1, I knew I was working with a student with exceptional talent,” Nelson said. From there, she was encouraged to do art as her afternoon activity.

“I would say Mrs. Nelson is one of my favorite people! She’s helped me tremendously.” Han said.

Adele Harris ‘22, Han’s roommate said, My roommate Chloe Han is not only an amazing artist but an amazing person! Through her artwork, she illustrates a story or powerful message that not many artists can portray. Every time she finishes a piece I am left speechless. She has a special talent that brings joy to everyone who views her pieces. Overall, I’m a big fan of her work (if not her biggest fan), and I love watching her artwork grow.”

Many have seen some of Han’s best work on her art Instagram, @hanjichloart. She is passionate about art activism for equal and justice rights, saying: “I love educating people on issues that are going on throughout the world.” Recently Han did a project bringing light to sexual harassment. “My hope is that people can be more aware of these issues and do something to stop them,” she explained.

Han’s artwork can vary from paintings to design, but her favorite medium is graphite. “I love using pencils! The texture tends to be very unique.” she said. After Hill, Han would love to major in art. “I’m not exactly sure what I want to be, but it definitely has to intertwine with art. Maybe a designer or helping people make posters and campaigns. Even making murals sound good to me!”
