There are many different traditions that the sixth form gets to experience. On December 8, 2019, it was time for the Class of 2020 to ring in the holidays with the annual tree decorating event. The entire sixth form class got together and celebrated some of their last moments at Hill.

“It is one of the first events that only sixth formers can participate in which makes it extremely special,” Paige Barcus ’20 said. Barcus also said that this was an event that served as a reward for sixth formers’  three-plus years of work to date.

“After all of these years of working hard, this is an event that not only celebrates the holidays but also brings us together as a form,” Barcus said.

At the event, there was hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and holiday cheer. Sixth formers decorated their portraits and hung them on the Christmas tree as ornaments – a part of the tradition. Not only was this event a celebration of the holidays, it was also a reminder for the sixth formers that they have each other in this bittersweet winter with college applications being sent and decisions coming in.

On December 18, 2019 the sixth form will get the opportunity to experience another tradition. Caroling has been a sixth form tradition for the past 10 years.

“It is a special event that only the sixth form gets to experience,” Chevelle Obuobi-Donkor ’20 said. “I think it is especially important for our form, as it is something that we have been looking forward to for a long time.”

The class of 2020 is extremely excited to not only carry on their traditions at Hill but also to get the opportunity to celebrate the holidays together.
