Michael Vanelli ’19 has recently been appointed student representative of the Hobart’s Run board. Hobart’s Run is a non-profit organization created by the Hill School to support the revitalization of the Pottstown area. Its mission, to foster a better neighborhood within Pottstown, has lured in many investors in efforts to renovate local properties.

Vanelli received his position after his previous work with the Boys and Girls club. He expressed interest in joining the board after seeing alumna Olivia Zitkus ’16 become a member of the board of trustees.

Vanelli is approaching the position with a plan to get Hill students more involved.

“I’ve personally seen how amazing Hills students are when they come together,” Vanelli said. “This will help foster the connection between the two groups for the coming months.”

With the approval of the board members,Vanelli will be able to sit in board meetings, but is not allowed to vote on decisions.

“I anticipate that Michael’s position will go a long way in successfully communicating to the student body both what Hobart’s Run is and what we do,” Twila Fisher, manager of community and economic development, said.

Vanelli hopes to foster a better understanding of the Pottstown community within the Hill community. He hopes to learn the steps it takes to sustain that greater community as well. The Hobart’s Run board is considering adding another student representative position to increase support for the organization.
